Your biggest growth will come from struggles you wish you never had
For years,
had been giving me shit for selling eBooks. Not because they weren’t helpful, but because they couldn’t show the world the value he saw me deliver to him in person throughout 2020 with my mental models. The problem was, I made over $125K selling ebooks in 2021 & over $150K selling them in 2022. Most of my business revenue depended on them.
But the market started changing in 2023. My $13K per month revenue stream dropped to about $10K per month and Gumroad slapped a 10% service fee on top of that. Boom, a $50K projected revenue shortfall.
I knew it was time to pivot. The thing was, I could afford to forgo the eBook revenue for awhile and simply rely on savings to plug the shortfall. But I hated seeing number go down on my bank account.
I finally convinced myself to invest in my business like I would invest in a crypto project. Just ditch the eBook sales, mentally commit to burning cash to cover the gap and invest in a new website (link in bio) and message with the help of @torreydawley and start aggressively sharing my mental models with the world.
I started creating more longer form content on X and also posting it on LinkedIn. Within a couple months I had my first executive coaching client whose life and outlook has changed more rapidly than any client I’ve previously coached in fitness alone.
8 months into the strategy shift, I finally hit $20K in monthly coaching revenue in January, am on pace to surpass that in February and by March, expect nearly 50% of my revenue to come from executive & life coaching, completely independent of my fitness offerings.
Because of course a dude who worked at a hedge fund then spent 6 years at Google before getting into crypto in 2018 would have more to offer than the eBooks that helped launch his WiFi business 🤓
