One of the most valuable skills you can develop is the ability to endure pain. I don’t mean that because life should be miserable. Quite the contrary.
But in order to suffer the LEAST amount of pain possible, you must become intimately familiar with how you perceive pain.
You must understand when pain comes, when it goes, stories you can tell yourself to endure just a little more. Only once you understand the PATTERN of pain, can you begin to notice that the most painful activities don’t actually produce the best results.
You begin to differentiate between chronic pain and acute discomfort, the former being a productivity drag that is to be avoided at all cost, while the latter is something that is simply the price of admission for success.
