If you’re not willing to be weird, you’re not going to be successful.
Your focus will either be on achieving greatness or achieving approval. And if you focus on achieving approval, you are letting OTHER people write your game plan.
What’s the chances that a game plan that someone else wrote, someone who at best doesn’t care if you succeed or more likely doesn’t want you to succeed will be a highly effective game plan?
Ask my college teammates one adjective that sticks out about me. They won’t say ripped. They won’t say smart. They will say “weird.”
But if you’re actually smart, the ideas and actions that make sense to you won’t make sense to others.
If you want to be great, you have to be willing to go against the grain. To be alone against the consensus. And if you’re unwilling to be weird, do you really think you have a chance?
