My former hedge fund boss made $150 million in 2020-2021. He wakes up to views like this 9 months out of the year and in a 10,000 sq foot penthouse the other 3.
And he just put on a no-expenses spared wedding where he flew in a Michelin star chef & his 36 staff and also paid for two nights of musical performances from a 16 time Grammy winner. As he showed me around his Thai villa (which is the rich man’s version of the view I had above) I repeated a phrase he taught me: “You’re certainly getting the best revenge; Living well.”
You imagine nice things, and then you see what he has and you’ll immediately upgrade your definition. Best food. Best wine. Best living conditions. “I just wish I could sleep,” he replied.
So I thought that no matter how insanely cool it would be to do all the things he does, if it meant struggling to get 5 hours of sleep per night, how much can you really enjoy it?
He’s financially rich but he’s energy poor. And if sleep was something he could fix with a check, I’m sure he’d write one for $30 million. The thing about sleep is the habits that you build when you’re younger will either help you or bite you in the ass when you get older.
So when you imagine what a good retirement will be, make sure the path you choose to build your wealth doesn’t result in your physical inability to truly enjoy it once you’ve made it.
My greatest client transformations have gone beyond physical transformations. Men like Trey, James, and Brandon have massively improved their quality of sleep this year as a result of listening to me and making some hard but necessary adjustments on their end. And as a former insomniac myself, I can personally say that getting my sleep on track has been far more satisfying to me than becoming a liquid millionaire. Because energy gives you far more swagger than money ever will.
Great read
